Cisco phone support in Australia

If you have Cisco phones on your desks and something is not right, start below.
Are you trying to reach Cisco?
Most people who find this page are, so it is worth being straight about it.
We are not Cisco, and we are not one of their partners, resellers or authorised agents. VoIP System is an independent Australian phone systems company. We help Australian businesses with the phones they already have.
What to expect from us
Cisco phones turn up in Australian offices in all sorts of conditions. Some are on a system somebody set up years ago, some were inherited with the building, and some are being kept going long after whoever installed them moved on.
We are not going to guess at your setup from a web page. The sensible thing is to tell us what you have and what it is doing, and we will tell you honestly whether it is something we can help with.
What to try before you call anyone
Most faults on any VoIP handset come down to the same few things, whoever made it.
- Restart the phone properly. Unplug the network cable, wait ten seconds, plug it back in, and let it finish starting up. That takes about a minute.
- Check whether every phone in the office is doing it. If they all are, the fault is the phone system or the internet connection, not the handset on your desk.
- Check the cable is in the socket marked LAN, not the one marked PC. The PC socket feeds the computer through the phone and will not bring the phone itself online.
- Move the phone to a working network port at another desk. If it comes good there, the fault is the port or the cable rather than the phone.
If one phone still will not come online after all of that, stop there. The next step is in the phone system settings, and it needs whoever looks after your phones.
Talk it through with us
If none of that sorts it, get in touch and we will work out what is going on. It helps to know the make and model, what changed just before it started, and whether it affects one phone or all of them.
The help on this page is free and there is no form in front of it.
Common questions
- Is this Cisco?
- No. Cisco make the hardware. VoIP System is an independent Australian phone systems company. We are not a Cisco partner, reseller or authorised agent.
- Can you help if we bought the phones somewhere else?
- Yes. Most people we help through these pages did.
- We do not know what our setup is. Is that a problem?
- No. Inheriting a system nobody documented is normal. Tell us what you can see and we will work out the rest.
