RingCentral support and alternatives in Australia

If RingCentral is not working the way you expected, this page is for you.

Are you trying to reach RingCentral?

Most people who find this page are, so it is worth being straight about it.

We are not RingCentral, and we are not one of their partners, resellers or authorised agents. VoIP System is an independent Australian phone systems company. We help businesses that are using them, and businesses that are thinking about leaving.

If something is broken

RingCentral is a hosted service, so the phone system itself sits with them rather than in your office. That means most faults are one of three things: your internet connection, the handsets, or something set the wrong way in the account.

The first two we can look at directly. The third we can usually work out with you, but changes inside the account have to be made by whoever holds it.

What to try before you call anyone

Most faults on any VoIP handset come down to the same few things, whoever made it.

  • Restart the phone properly. Unplug the network cable, wait ten seconds, plug it back in, and let it finish starting up. That takes about a minute.
  • Check whether every phone in the office is doing it. If they all are, the fault is the phone system or the internet connection, not the handset on your desk.
  • Check the cable is in the socket marked LAN, not the one marked PC. The PC socket feeds the computer through the phone and will not bring the phone itself online.
  • Move the phone to a working network port at another desk. If it comes good there, the fault is the port or the cable rather than the phone.

If one phone still will not come online after all of that, stop there. The next step is in the phone system settings, and it needs whoever looks after your phones.

If you are thinking about moving

Plenty of people find this page because the bill went up, or because support has become slow, or because they are paying for a lot they never use.

Worth saying plainly: moving is not always the right answer. If the problem is the internet connection at your site, changing providers moves the problem rather than fixing it. We would rather tell you that than sell you a migration.

If it is worth moving, your numbers come with you. That is the part people worry about most and it is the part that is least difficult.

Talk it through with us

If none of that sorts it, get in touch and we will work out what is going on. It helps to know the make and model, what changed just before it started, and whether it affects one phone or all of them.

The help on this page is free and there is no form in front of it.

Common questions

Is this RingCentral?
No. RingCentral is a separate company. VoIP System is an independent Australian phone systems company, and this page is not affiliated with them.
Can you fix a RingCentral problem for us?
We can look at your handsets, your network and your connection, which is where a lot of faults actually are. Changes inside the RingCentral account have to be made by whoever holds it.
Do we lose our phone numbers if we move?
No. Your numbers move with you. It is the part people worry about most and the part that causes the least trouble.
